Atif Aslam On A Scintillating Musical High

Atif Aslam On A Scintillating Musical High

Sep 20, 2016 DissDash

Taking the stage by storm, Atif Aslam has lit the Bollywood musical industry with his musical blend of melodramatic pieces over the past few years. Atif has not stopped short of failing to synchronize across different genres and kinds of music. Born in Wazirabad, Pakistan, the singer has chronicled an impressive saga in the music space. It was during Atif’s time at college that he began his tryst with music, soon leading to the singer belting out popular singles at his college cafeteria.

During his early university days, Atif had not mulled taking up music since his interest lay in sports. He had his mind set to crack his way into Pakistan’s cricket team and emerge as one of the country’s leading sportsmen. But as most say, karma has its own special way of meandering into one’s life and Atif witnessed just that.

With his soulful singing, Atif’s peers at his university persuaded him to perform at the upcoming competition across colleges in his town. Soon enough, he was bagging all the awards at the events, stunning judges with his talent. After a winning streak, Atif even announced that he was going to give up performing so that he may give way for another emerging singer. Despite the many stints with music bands, culminating in a noteworthy list of live shows, Atif had still not scripted much popularity outside of his country. With most of his shows on local stages, his performance and stupendous singing went unnoticed for a long time, that is until he made his Bollywood debut.

When Atif had formed the band Jal with a college friend, he did not anticipate the fame that it would bring him in the Bollywood industry. The band’s first album, released in 2004, was titled Jal Pari, meaning “mermaid”. The band was a huge hit. Soon enough, their songs were in massive demand across Bollywood. Mahesh Bhatt, a highly acclaimed Bollywood director, requested Atif to include the song “Woh Lamhe” from the album in his movie Zeher. The song was an enormous hit and it soon threw the young lad from Pakistan into the limelight. The entertainment industry was enthralled by his singing and Atif soon released his next few solo albums, “Doorie” and “Meri Kahani”. The songs soon catapulted Atif to fame, and his song “Pehli Nazar Mein” for the movie Race was nominated for India’s prestigious IIFA Awards.

Atif’s latest single, “Tere Sang Yaara”, in the thriller Rustom released in August this year, saw the song receive commendable praise. It scripted massive fan following across the globe, especially amongst South Asians, with his passionate and soulful singing. His music has known to resonate well with his audience, while most of his songs for movies fringe on romance.

With the singer charting widespread recognition, Atif has toured across the globe with prominent singers for concerts and live performances. The growing demand for his live shows saw him perform in New York, Canada, other parts of the United States, the UK and later at Suriname.

Atif is scheduled to perform with Indian singer Sonu Nigam tomorrow in New Jersey in the United States. The duo will then perform on Sunday this week in Long Beach, California and on September 24th in the Bay Area – Oakland, California. On September 30th they will be performing in Chicago and on October 1st Atif Aslam and Sonu Nigam will be performing live in Cedar Park, Texas. The final concert will be in Ontario, Canada, on October 22nd.
