Fleet Week is a time-honored tradition that has been around since 1984. Citizens get a chance to meet sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen and thank them for their service. The weeklong celebration coincidences with Memorial Day and there are plenty of amazing events that’ll educate you on the history of the maritime services. I would highly recommend checking out some of the events and get to know more about what our Marine Corps do for us. Check out their website here for the full list of events that will occur during May 24-30. All the events are free and open to the public. Fleet Week New York Parade of Ships

Located in the New York Harbor, you’ll get the opportunity to see the U.S Navy, as well as U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian ships kick start 2017 Fleet Week in NYC. You could watch the show anyway along the Hudson River and even enjoy a picnic with friends and family. 

General Public Ship Tours

Have you ever wondered what it is like aboard a military ship? Well, you’ll get a chance to do so at several piers including Pier 86, Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, and a few others. If you do chose to do this activity, make sure to head early as possible to ensure you’ll be attend the tours. This event is definitely worth it so make sure to check this out!

Fleet Week New York Community Music Festival

Check out this fun event with musicians playing in honor of the service members. Located at the Flagship Brewery in Staten Island, this eight-hour event will bring everyone together and have a good time celebrating Fleet Week.

Intrepid Memorial Day Commemoration

On Memorial Day, honor the men and women who made the sacrifice in serving in the armed forces and fighting for our country. This event will take place at the Intrepid Museum so be sure to check this out.
