“You Can’t Make Me Go!” Addressing School Refusal Behavior in Children and Adolescents

School refusal is a common problem in children and adolescents, and a particular concern due to its potential short- and long-term impact on academic, social, emotional, and family functioning. Furthermore, the longer a child misses school, the more likely these problems are to develop. In this workshop, Randi Pochtar, PhD, and Samantha Busa, PsyD, will discuss the most common reasons for school refusal behavior, things that parents can do to help their child or adolescent return to school, and the most effective treatments for targeting this issue.

Presenter: Randi Pochtar, PhD, and Samantha Busa, PsyD
