The Tracy Piper "Bloom" Opening Reception

RSVP to enjoy a special viewing of The Tracy Piper's “Bloom” solo exhibition that reimagines the Garden of Eden as an inclusive paradise celebrating our collective growth in these tumultuous times. Meet fellow art lovers while taking pleasure in the artist's vibrant figurative paintings—in addition to a curated selection of regional artists in the gallery's lower level space [The Down Low].

The exhibition is on view through April 16, 2022. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment. We are closely following the situation with COVID-19 via the CDC and SF Department of Public Health and will share any updates on our website, newsletter, and social media channels.

A new addition to the artist’s signature color palette, Tracy includes fictional tattoos in each portrait to share the subject’s inner stories. In “Shine,” line-drawn hands signing ‘bloom’ in American Sign Language (ASL), illustrate the personal history of Brandon Kazen-Maddox, a multi-talented GODA (Grandchild of Deaf Adults) BIPOC ASL Artist who advocates for more visibility for the Deaf community through art and performance.

THE TRACY PIPER (b. Oakland, CA, 1987) is a female-identifying, contemporary painter and art activist. Best known for her vibrant portraits and figurative acrylic paintings, Piper’s illustrative work tackles social constructs in an abstract-realist style. She has shown at SCOPE and SELECT in Miami, FL; stARTup Art Fair in San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA; SCOPE New York, NY; and exhibits internationally. In 2017 Tracy competed on the GSNTV show “Skin Wars: Fresh Paint” and emerged victorious! Most recently, Tracy completed six murals in the Bay Area to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement and promote community safety during COVID-19. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration from California College of the Arts and is represented by Voss Gallery.

VOSS GALLERY is a women-owned art gallery in San Francisco’s Mission District established in 2019 by Ashley L. Voss. The gallery features a dynamic exhibition program of solo and thematically organized group shows and socially-conscious projects to benefit the greater community. New exhibitions are presented approximately every three to four weeks and are curated with an emphasis on New Contemporary work by emerging and mid-career artists.
