Possibilities Theatre Company presents a table reading of THE HOUSE IN THE HOLLER by kl, as a fundraiser for the Chicago Abortion Fund.
It's December 16th, 1966. In a small holler in West Virginia, a traveling abortion ring has come into town for one night only. Over the course of the evening five different patients show up, all with one goal: to get. that. abortion. However, their personal histories, unexpected side effects, surprise visitors, and outside pressures continuously complicate their evening. This play follows these women throughout the night as the exercise their right to choose--whatever the choice, no matter the cost. Trigger warnings: rape, incest.
The mission of the Chicago Abortion Fund is to advance reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change.
The reading will take place on Saturday, May 28th at 2:00 PM at MyBuddy's bar. Tickets are $10 a person to attend, and all proceeds will go to the Chicago Abortion Fund. There will be food and drink available for purchase, and $1 of every drink, and $2 of every shot will be donated back to the Chicago Abortion Fund.
