501 Commons is happy to be presenting the workshop series for board and staff members that has been offered by United Way of King County for many years. Check back on our Featured Eventspage for upcoming sessions.
The Board Development workshop is presented with special funding from the Washington Secretary of State's office, and costs only $15.
How can you build the strongest possible board of directors to guide and champion your organization? Participants will learn how to run a thoughtful board recruitment process that will yield results. In addition, we’ll touch on engagement and retention strategies to make sure you are able to keep and benefit from the talented people serving on your board.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Name key board roles and responsibilities
- Recognize three life stages of nonprofit boards
- Develop a board recruitment process for your organization
- Identify recruitment goals for your nonprofit
- Recruit board members with the skills and experience you need
- Welcome and orient new board members
