Sussex County Library at its Louise Childs branch is having a fantastic event for children! Throughout the Read to A Dog Event, kids will be reading aloud to a certified therapy dog without getting distracted, criticized, or interrupted! This way, our children will gain self-esteem, confidence, and a love of reading and improve their public skills! In order for your child to get registered for a one-on-one 10 minutes time slot, just call the branch at 973 770-1000!
Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!
Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Read-to-a-dog will be held the 4th Tuesday of each month, and registration begins two weeks before each meeting date.
Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.
