Path to Spirituality: Reflection, Connection, & Expression
Join us for a night of spiritual awakening through mindfulness, art, and food. In a calm and centered atmosphere, we will host 35 special attendees through a journey of mindfulness-based exercises to open up and connect to the heartspace. GAMA Director, Abbas Mohamed, will facilitate our evening, and introduce us to cultivating heart space with creativity. Next, therapist Hira Khanzada of Khalil Center will lead us through a process of mind-body-spirit meditation as well as a guided visualization.
We will then turn our spiritual attention towards the canvas with a paint night led by GAMA artist and Creative Director, Zara Sheikh of GAMA, followed by Maghrib prayer.
After prayers, we will commence iftar dinner with a special ‘mindful bites’ exercise with Lisa Ahmad, Chef and Owner of Mirchi Cafe, who will lead us through a mindful tasting exercise. She’s chosen a special dinner menu that will complement and build to the themes of spirituality and reflection throughout the event.
Our journey will be held at the beautiful Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California in Oakland, CA. We’re limited to 35 canvasses so get your tickets now!
