2) Enjoy fellowship, while linking to resources and networking with other parents from Newark and throughout the State of New Jersey.

###

What to expect at Parent University Events:

§ More networking and productive dialogue with parents from the traditional and charter public school sectors.

§ Follow-up on common ground, previously identified, that we could continue discussion, and identify innovative ways share common values with other parents in Newark and around the state of New Jersey, (i.e. quality education for all kids, parent engagement and advocacy trainings for both traditional and charter school parents).

§ Continued discussion and documentation of additional follow-up items, pertaining to the needs of parents from both sectors. (i.e. skills and tools necessary to best engage with the educational journey of their child).

§ Join the collective effort of 'bridging the gap' of 'misunderstanding' and mistrust between traditional and charter parents in our city.

Take Action- Parents will be invited to:
a. update their voter register form/register to vote,
b. sign-up to join their respective school’s parent association,
c. sign-up for fall activities offered by Parent University
d. register for “free” parent engagement and advocacy trainings, offered via Taking The Plunge, TTP.,
f. Ask questions and receive answers pertaining to the upcoming general election, being held in November.

§ Great dialogue, amazing guests and activities for our scholars to engage in.

Scholars of registered parents, must also be registered by their respective parent or guardian and participate in activities planned for students.
