MLK Commemoration Awards Banquet and Candlelight Vigil

Join us as we honor Dr. MLK Jr.'s legacy as the Civil Rights Activist. This year marks the 54th Anniversary of his assassination. Our theme for this year: We are Drum Majors for Justice!

Bertha James is the Committee Chair, and Monica James serves as Co-Chair. Ticket donations for the Banquet are $100 per person, Child $50. The cost covers the Banquet and entry into Cocktail Hour. The Banquet starts at 7:00 pm. Attire is Cocktail or semi-formal. You may self-tour the museum too. 

Attendees of the Banquet can expect an enjoyable meal and an inspiring program filled with Music and Entertainment. One of the unique features will be an original poem written by Helen Lewis Johnson. Finally, we expect a mixture of celebrities, elected officials, actors, musicians, and just plain folks who have supported the late Executive Director and Founder, Ovide Duncantell Jr., and Black Heritage Society. President, NAACP Houston Branch, Bishop Dr. James Dixon is the Keynote Speaker. This year's theme: We are Drum Majors for Justice! Bishop Dr. James Dixon is no stranger to fighting for equal justice for all people.

Special Guests include 44th MLK Jr. Parade Co-Grand Marshals: Claude Cummings Jr., Gilbert Andrew Garcia, Al Kashani.  *****Keynote Speaker    Meet Wallace Grant II of WG2 Sound Records and WG Production       ***World-Renowned Kashmere Reunion Stage Band*** Honorees induction to Hall of Fame, Kenyha Shabazz-Drummer: Late Ovide Duncantell Jr., Jancis Frances, Helen Johnson, etc. Hall of Fame Induction occurs every two years for past board members.
