Learn the art of making a traditional Buddhist rosary.  Buddhist rosaries, called “malas,” are used during the practice of mantra recitation.  Mantra is a Sanskrit word meaning “mind protection.” Reciting mantras draws us closer to Buddha’s good qualities and allows us to be more calm and peaceful.  Learn the beading techniques to make a traditional Buddhist mala and begin your practice of mantra recitation.  All beads and supplies will be provided for this workshop and you will take home a completed mala. No experience is necessary. Everyone welcome.

Led by Meditation Teacher, Eve Miller.  Eve Miller is a meditation teacher and senior Buddhist practitioner at Kadampa Meditation Center Philadelphia.  She has studied Buddhism for over 18 years.  Eve is well-versed in many of the ritual aspects of Buddhism (making shrines and offerings) and she makes Buddhist prayer beads (malas) for mantra recitation.  She is a professional cellist and music teacher.
