MAGNETIC LATE-SUMMER FUN! World Premiere of Lucia Del Vecchio’s “Rollicking Farce,” OFF THE RAILS!

Just in time to celebrate the end of summer, The Magnetic Theatre proudly presents the world premiere of Lucia Del Vecchio’s Off the Rails, the company’s first flat-out, hilarious, sex-filled farce. Del Vecchio, The Magnetic’s managing and associate artistic director, is best known for previous Magnetic smash hits Shangri-LaMILF, The Musical; and last fall’sThe Employee Handbook Revision Committee. Long-time Del Vecchio collaborator and company artistic director, Steven Samuels, directs. And Tracey Johnston-Crum, a Magnetic regular and one of Asheville’s favorite actors (as cited in Mountain Xpress’s “Best of” poll), stars along with other Magnetic veterans and newcomers to our stage.

Off the Rails features all the madcap zaniness typical of farce (slamming doors, mistaken identities, terrible misunderstandings, and sexual shenanigans) in a contemporary setting, with a fresh, original story. On a prenuptial trip across Europe in a refurbished, antique train, Hollywood action star Gabriella (Johnston-Crum) and her tech-mogul fiancée Aidan (Scott Bean) have their happily-ever-after plans derailed. Wedding guests/fellow passengers (James Meador, Tippin, Cody Magouirk, Christine Eide) join the occasionally happy couple and the train’s conductor (Scott Fisher) and maid (Meg Hale Brunton) on a whistle-stop tour during which some fall in and out of love, and not everyone is who they seem. Baggage includes heavy drinking, a knife, a gun, and a mysterious burka-clad figure. By the end of the line, will the wedding be on the right or wrong side of the tracks?

Off the Rails is one train wreck you won’t want to miss!
