Headlining this session is Lorne Svarc.Â
Svarc is a Canadian playwright and creative technologist whose work spans theatre, film, animation, and immersive storytelling. He is the founder and CEO of Technodramatists, a theatre, and technology company that integrates emerging technologies such as augmented reality into live performance. His play Chained Woman won second prize in the Infinitheatre Write-On-Q Competition and was a 2016 semi-finalist for the Eugene O'Neill Playwriting Conference. His film Sapiosexual was licensed by ShortsTV and has been broadcast across 3 continents. Lorne wrote the script for Surface Tensions, an interactive AR installation by technologist Rosalind Paradis, which won first prize at the 2016 New York Media Lab. During the pandemic, he served as the co-producer and experience designer for the trans-media experience Mañanaland, a co-production with the Tank NYC and wrote and produced Technodramatists’ online first augmented reality production, Alibi: a-reality bending livestream theatre experience. He is a member of the Virtual/Augmented Reality Global Association Storytelling Committee and is a mentor with the Writer’s Guild Initiative.
