Maria Haggerty, CEO
Dotcom Distribution

 

Maria Haggerty is the CEO of Dotcom Distribution, a third party logistics company located just outside New York City. Maria started her career as a CPA. After working as CFO of a large media distribution company, she co-founded Dotcom Distribution in 2000. Logistics companies like Dotcom have a much broader mandate than putting items in boxes, and Maria has been responsible for providing strategic leadership in a range of technologically driven initiatives that impact all aspects of business operations.   Like spokes on a wheel, Maria recognized how the hub of technology enhancements would radiate and benefit the outer rings of Dotcom’s business operations. To that end, Maria identified technology automation and business systems as strategic corporate objectives   In this way, by embracing advancements in technology, Maria demonstrated how technology and automation would allow the operation to better understand and serve its customers in the short and long term.

Maria’s involvement in technology has been a natural progression throughout her career. After founding Dotcom Distribution, Maria was involved with identifying technology solutions to handle a warehouse management system and the metrics surrounding the efficiency of warehouse operations. Maria has developed an environment of continual improvement. She can often be heard reminding employees that “problems are puzzles,” encouraging them to “do the math” in order to make decisions and solve business problems.

True to her CPA background, if labor, throughput, and a host of other operations could be measured, they could be managed and improved.  Building out an IT team to support the data that flowed into and out of the facility was priority number one. After that, she identified the right integration systems to support clients in a wide variety of verticals. Currently, with the wheel of logistics technology rotating faster than ever, Maria finds herself continually evaluating new automation tools, warehouse software, and material handling hardware to better serve customers and gain an edge in the fiercely competitive world of logistics.
