Hey! Ho! Let's Go: Ramones and the Birth of Punk

anniversary of the Ramones’ landmark, three-cord, 29-minute-long eponymous debut album. Celebrating the latter is The Grammy Museum’s new, much-anticipated exhibit, Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: Ramones and the Birth of Punk, co-organized by the Queens Museum, where it opened earlier this year. Whereas the East Coast display focused on the group’s early Queens roots, the collection here looks at their influence “in the larger pantheon of music history and pop culture.” Presented in four thematic sections – “places, events, songs, and artists” – the hundreds of memorabilia include photographs, clothing and instruments, in addition to personal items by Linda Ramone (Johnny Ramone’s wife); Mickey Leigh (Joey Ramone’s brother and Ramones’ original stage manager); Monte Melnick (Ramones’ tour manager); and Arturo Vega (who, along with the band, designed their famous logo).
