A joint exhibition with the Whitney Museum of American Art, Frank Stella: A Retrospective is a comprehensive exhibition of one of the most important living American artists, the first of its kind in the United States in nearly 30 years. Stella, the enormously influential and fiercely innovative abstract expressionist painter, gave his full support, lending complete access to his collection and archives. The exhibit opens Sunday and runs through September 18 at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (3200 Darnell St.). With 100 paintings, reliefs, maquettes, sculptures and drawings, the exhibit highlights Stella’s best-known work along with some rare pieces from the mid-1950s to the present. Countless series are represented here, chronicling early minimalist paintings through a progression into more complex and dynamic work. For more info, visit themordern.org.
