Focus on Espresso - October 17 - Wholesale Customers Only

Prerequisite: Barista Fundamentals

This two-hour course is dedicated to exploring techniques for espresso preparation in-depth. Irving Farm’s instructors will provide students with hands-on experience manipulating grind, dose, shot volume, and shot time to achieve espresso with different flavors. This course aims to empower baristas to approach espresso with confidence and grace.

The course will enable students to...

  • Use different dosing and distribution techniques to achieve various dose weights.

  • Discuss the role of consistency across various espresso preparation methods.

  • Manipulate espresso grind, dose, shot volume, and shot time to produce espresso with positive flavor attributes.

  • Use Extract Mojo and refractometer to analyze extraction.

Students should come prepared to taste coffee beverages. Class begins promptly at the top of the hour! Our lab opens 15 minutes before class starts so that you can check-in prior to the start of class.
