In the mid-19th century, poet, painter and archaeologist Auguste Salzmann left France to photograph Jerusalem’s holy sites and capture expressions of religious faith through his lens. This, the first exhibit devoted to Salzmann’s career, includes 35 pictures drawn from the archives of the Met’s Department of Photographs. For more information, visitmetmuseum.org.
