This new monthly program from Artists Standing Strong Together is a chance for you and your friends to reimagine the contemporary world through the lens of the ancient African tradition of the dilemma tale, an open-ended story designed to provoke thoughtful group discussion about the story's possible outcomes. Each month we'll focus on a specific societal issue. The issue for May is homelessness.
The evening begins with the ceremonious African libation by National Storyteller and ASST Artistic Director, Sheila Arnold, followed by a traditional African dilemma tale. The group will discuss the dilemma tale, with everyone who wants to getting the chance to speak. As we continue to explore the topic, we'll hear from an invited expert who will share their experiences. Two additional dilemma tales will be told for us to contemplate and discuss, both in small group breakout rooms and among the larger group.Â
Dilemma Tales is a fun, fascinating opportunity to come together as strangers or as friends to exchange thoughts about the world we share.
