This new storytelling program from Artists Standing Strong Together is a chance for you and your friends to reimagine the contemporary world through the lens of the ancient tradition of the dilemma story.
The evening begins with the ceremonious African libation followed by National Storyteller and ASST Artistic Director, Sheila Arnold, offering a traditional African dilemma tale. The group will discuss aspects of the story with a unique chance to hear from all voices in the zoom room who wish to speak. We'll share a light-hearted dilemma tale for you and your friends or new friends to discuss in small breakout rooms. Then we'll reconvene to prepare for the evening's topic: incarceration.
An expert will present their perspective and experiences, then we'll listen to a dilemma tale centered around the topic of incarceration. Next a lively group discussion will ensue in hopes of broadening our understanding of the world around us by talking through some of our own ideas and impressions.
Dilemma Tales aims to be a thought-provoking evening enjoyed by groups and individuals, like a long-distance family game night with an artful and highly contemporary twist.
