Children’s Day/Book Day-Also known as El Dia de Los Ninos/El Dia de Los Libros emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background.
Dia del Nino began as an annual celebration to recognize children and pay homage to their importance in society. Pat Mora thought that promoting literacy went hand in hand with this celebration. The day has been honoring children and advocating literacy since 1997.
