If finances are an issue, please reach out to us by emailing us here at bayareastoryfest@gmail.com with Scholarship Program as the subject. Tell us just a little about yourself, and we’ll be happy to provide a scholarship for a portion or all of the ticket price.
Please note, we will be following Health Department guidelines and attendees should be prepared to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask if mandated.
There is a VIRTUAL option which will stream live on YouTube. This will include all of the live performances of the day plus a recording of the storytelling workshop. If you miss part of the festival on the day of, your link will allow for viewing afterwards.

The day's SCHEDULE will present an opening and closing concert featuring all of our performers, a workshop, and open mic story swap. The Festival is thrilled to welcome these five internationally known artists:
Sheila Arnold has been performing since age eight. She presents Storytelling Programs, Historic Character Presentations, Christian Monologues, Professional Development for Educators and Inspirational/Motivational Speaking for schools, churches and organizations throughout the US. Ms. Sheila, as she is fondly called, has been performing full-time since 2003, and travels nationally each year.
Sheila has received the honor of being selected as a Mt. Vernon Research Fellow and a 2019 Hewnoaks Artist Colony summer residence Noted Artist. In the past she has worked as a Drama Ministry Director; Colonial Williamsburg employee; Substitute Teacher; and Social Worker for aggressive teens with emotional problems. www.mssheila.org
Diane Ferlatte's storytelling background began as a child listening to neighbors and family swap stories, lies and tales on her grandparents’ porch in Alexandria, LA. For over thirty years Diane has traveled internationally, captivating audiences while using songs, sign language, humor, and audience participation. Diane is beautifully accompanied on guitar and banjo by recording artist, Erik Pearson.
Diane shares historical and personal stories, as well as folktales and other forms of the oral tradition to illustrate the struggles and triumphs of the African American experience as well as stories that touch upon our common humanity. Diane has received numerous honors, including The National Association of Black Storytellers’ Zora Neale Hurston Award, The National Storytelling Network’s Oracle Circle of Excellence Award, as well as a Grammy Nomination. www.dianeferlatte.com
Eth-Noh-Tec is Kinetic Story Theater. Moving through Ancient Myth and Metaphor, illuminating Modern Messages. Eth-Noh-Tec is lyrical language, East and West, seamless and synchronous tandem telling.
Co-directors Nancy Wang and Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo, longstanding San Francisco artists founded Eth-Noh-Tec in 1982 and have contributed greatly to the Asian American performing arts movement. They have performed at two Presidential Inaugural Celebrations, the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee; Fabelhaft Festival, Austria; Timpanogos’ Storytelling Festival in Orem, Utah and many more. They have led several storytelling delegations to China, and are recipients of the Circle of Excellence Award by the National Storytelling Network. www.ethnohtec.org
Corey Rosen is a well-known writer, actor, improvisor, visual effects artist, and teacher living in San Francisco. He performs at BATS Improv, hosts The Moth StorySlams in the Bay Area and is a writer, creative director, and visual effects producer. He leads highly-recommended storytelling, communication, performance and stand-up comedy workshops

Willy Claflin is a one-man festival. Spanning historical sagas, intergalactic yarns, Mother Moose Tales, and counter culture misadventures, he covers the full spectrum of spoken word entertainment.
A musician and storyteller since the early 1980s, Willy Claflin tells original and traditional stories, and is the speaking-mouth-person for Maynard Moose, the only quadruped on the storytelling circuit. He also sings traditional ballads from the British Isles and Appalachia, blues, and his own original tunes.
Claflin has authored multiple award-winning recordings and has performed across the globe, including at the International Storytelling Festival in Ireland. He is an NSN ORACLE Circle of Excellence award recipient. www.willyclaflin.com.
