The first museum exhibition of Chinese immigrant Cao Yong’s original oil paintings that explore his own, highly personal journey around the world over a 30-year period will be on view in Art Without Boundaries by CAO YONG: Citizen of the World from July 27 to December 14, 2017 at Forest Lawn Museum, Forest Lawn-Glendale. Featuring more than 40 paintings spanning from Yong’s early, spiritual search in Tibet to his globally inspired, more recent work, with styles ranging from realism to surrealism, the exhibition pays homage to the legacy of the now Los Angeles-based artist extolled by the Japanese press as "an artistic genius of our time." Beginning with Yong's finely detailed series that depicts the lives of Tibetan monks and laypeople to his richly colored oil paintings of lush landscapes, serene city views, peaceful seascapes and historic landmarks, his body of work reveals his pursuit of beauty, humanity and compassion and his desire to share those findings and feelings with viewers. Art Without Boundaries by CAO YONG: Citizen of the World is a distinctively important exhibition that builds on Forest Lawn Museum’s ongoing efforts to present subjects and installations that resonate with contemporary society and today’s broader cultural context. The Forest Lawn Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission and parking are FREE.
