Can Music Save Us? Why We Need to Sing!
By Charlie McShane
We’re all cousins in the Family of Song and Music is our universal language. Please join Charlie McShane for a performance of songs and poems which will make you laugh and cry and think. Be prepared. Some songs will encourage significant audience participation because, cousin, we all have music in us.
Music saves lives. It certainly saved Charlie McShane's ass. In the mid-90s, he was middle-aged, in divorce court, home torn apart by court order, trouble at work. Bit by bit, Music revived him. He took guitar lessons, went to workshops and festivals, and found Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk music. Almost 30 years later, he's still writing and playing songs that touch us, revive our spirits ,and bring us together. Last fall, he released a CD, “New World Folk Music”. It’s available for a ridiculously small amount of money at charliemcshane.bandcamp.com
