“Superheroes and Other Men.” is a true-to-life tale about one man’s journey to find himself late in life. Standing alone, newly divorced, with grown and distant kids, the storyteller seeks to regain perspective and looks back at the heroes of his past. With a notebook in hand, the storyteller begins his search for answers by trying to write his journey as a means to find a new purpose. He thinks back on boyhood obsessions over heroes drawn from the pages of comic books, sports, and the silver screen. He reminisces on when his now ex-wife was pregnant with their first child and pulls forth memories of his father, grandfather, stepfather, first boss, teacher, and even a boyhood crush. In the process, he is determined to better understand each of their super action hero attributes from which he can draw. He also comes to recognize their kryptonite, desperately seeking to avoid their failures as husbands and fathers. All part of his path to discover the hero within.
