Narcan Overdose Prevention Trainings

In response to the Heroin/Opioid Epidemic in Philadelphia, DBHIDS invites you to “Empowering the DBHIDS Community: A Population Health Response to the Heroin/Opioid Crisis in Philadelphia.”

The 2017 Narcan overdose prevention training series will take place at Community Behavioral Health (CBH), 801 Market Street, 11th Floor Conference - Room 1154A on the following dates:

September 20, October 18, November 15 and December 13

All trainings will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

In an effort to increase awareness and enhance overall knowledge of the opioid epidemic’s impact on our region, DBHIDS, in partnership with Prevention Point Philadelphia, is offering the Narcan Overdose Prevention Training again! Join us for an informative session and learn how you can become a trained ambassador of overdose prevention methods.

Narcan Overdose Prevention Training participants will learn:

• How to recognize harm-reduction approaches to high-risk behaviors, including substance misuse
• The immediate protocols for effectively administering Naloxone (Narcan), the life-saving medication developed to help prevent fatal opioid overdoses
• The importance of the Good Samaritan Act 139 and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Standing Order for Naloxone (Narcan)

During our 2016 training series, more than 200 people were trained in Narcan Overdose Prevention and we’re looking to exceed that number this year! Register today to reserve your spot at one of the four upcoming sessions.

This training is intended for DBHIDS staff, behavioral health professionals and community members.
