This MLK Day, spend your off time at the JCC Harlem assembling shelf stable food packets for those who receive services from the Community Kitchen and Pantry of West Harlem, an initiative of the Food Bank for New York City. The Community Pantry and Kitchen is an incredible asset in Harlem, offering direct food service to New Yorkers in need since 1984.
Volunteers will create shelf-stable food packets in environmentally friendly packaging and utilizing high quality, bulk food. The food packets created will be available at the Community Kitchen & Food Pantry’s supermarket-style pantry for clients to select to bring home to cook.
Please note that this project takes place in 1.5 hours-long shifts. This opportunity is open to families with children ages 8+, high school students, and volunteers of all ages.
