Storytelling Art & Technique
Three Weekly Sessions
with Heather Forest
Sundays February 14, 21, & 28
11:00am - 12:30pm EST
Tuition: $75
This three week interactive storytelling workshop offers beginning
and burgeoning storytellers practical insights into the creative process,
social relevance, and performing art of storytelling. Participants will take a deep dive into exploring the basic instruments of storytelling: voice, body, imagination and metaphor.
We will examine methods to sequence, remember, shape, and share a story with
confidence and stage presence. Participants will consider ways to effectively
develop socially relevant repertoire, rehearse, self-assess, and improve their
telling over time. Interim assignments will be given to bridge the weekly sessions.
-Improvise folkloric plots with evocative, descriptive detail
-Elaborate dramatic moments in a plot by adding believable
character dialogue.
-Self-assess works
in progress
-Consider the relevance of selecting stories for different ages and settings
-Evolve personal stories rooted in folktale themes
