The day of the Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year, is celebrated yearly by millions of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese peoples. Known for its colorful decorations, wonderful parades, and also for brining family together, the moral of the day is to give thanks and remember their ancestors. On Friday, February 16th and throughout the weekend, you’ll have the opportunity to experience some fantastic cultural Chinese New Year events across the country. We’ve listed some great events below.

The 119th Golden Dragon Parade: Los Angeles

On Saturday, February 17th, starting at 1:00 PM Los Angeles will host the 119th annual Golden Dragon Parade. This extremely popular parade will not only be colorful, but offer plenty of celebrations and fun. This parade is one of the largest cultural events in the Southern California area, and you’ll love this year’s parade theme, which focuses on ethnic diversity. 2018 Lunar New Year Festival: Houston

The Chinese Community Center of Houston will host this year’s Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, February 17th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. This festival is a great way to educate yourself about Asia’s Lunar New Year while experiencing plenty of family fun and excitement. You’ll see over twenty cultural performances, dragon and lion dances, and also walk through the East West Bank Marketplace, which will host over fifty different booths with food, crafts, games, and much more. 2018 Chinese Lunar New Year Dinner Party: Chicago

On Tuesday, February 20th from 6 PM until 9 PM at Chicago’s Cai Restaurant, you’ll get to experience the Year of the Dog with plenty of wonderful cultural dishes that will help you ring in the Chinese New Year. The event will also feature a Lion Dance, a stamp dedication ceremony, and a twelve-course meal. You’ll be able to purchase beverages from a cash bar.
