HONDURAS is a solo piece based on experiences from several Honduran immigrant
mothers in the New York/New Jersey area, all of whom connected with Sara &
Immigrant Families Together. Each asylum-seeker in this story crossed the border in
the summer of 2018. All names are changed, characters are dramatized and highly
interpreted versions of people and scenarios, but nothing has been exaggerated. For

Valeria A. Avina (Performer)
Actor, Playwright, Producer and Voice Teacher at Fordham University. Based in NYC, born and raised in Durango,
Mexico. Valeria is a member of the Saudade Theatre Company, Intar UNIT52, The Flea (The Bats). She has also
performed at All For One Theater, Dixon Place, Drama League, Intar, Danisarte, Teatro SEA, Bushwick Starr, The
Tank, The Lark, Noor Theater and Planet Connections Festivity. In 2017, she was nominated at The Planet
Connections Awards for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Play for her role in Victory Girls by Kristina Poe. Some of her
TV/Film credits are commercial for Cadillac, Revlon,Stratus, Fidelis Care, Indriver,MJN Insurance, Mastercard and
an episode for Ralph Friedman TV Series, The perfect Murder and POSE (FX). Recently she was part of the
wonderful cast in the production of Cross-Roads by Raquel Almazan, (LaMicroTheater), Honduras by Sara
Farrington (AFO,Judson Church, So-fi Festival, Michael Chekhov Theater Festival and the Tank),POSE season 2 FX
(Chanel). In 2009 Valeria wrote her solo performance called " The wound of a Nation" based on the true stories of the
drug war in Mexico, the solo was inspired by her real life and people around her during the war. Years later when she
moved to NYC she wrote another solo called "Magic Tape" inspired by her own life.

Sara Farrington (Playwright)
Sara is an NYC/NJ based playwright & theater maker, co-founder of Foxy Films, her
theater company with husband Reid Farrington. MFA from Brooklyn College w/ Mac
Wellman, recent HARP Artist at HERE Arts Center for her play CasablancaBox, which
was nominated for two 2017 Drama Desk Awards: Unique Theatrical Experience &
Outstanding Projection Design. Upcoming: BrandoCapote (The Tank, 2019),
Cosmicomics (The Flea, 2020). Recent: Honduras (Michael Chekhov Theater Fest, AFO
SoloCollective, Int'l Human Rights Arts Fest), Leisure, Labor, Lust (Tank, The Mount,
Art House), The Return (commissioned/performed at The Metropolitan Museum of
Art), Near Vicksburg (Incubator Arts), Requiem For Black Marie (Incubator, Stella
Adler Studio), Mickey & Sage (Incubator, Great Plains Theater Conf., NTI @ O'Neill,
ShelterBelt Theater, Omaha.) Her work has received support from The Venturous Fund,
MediaTHE, NYSCA, Axe-Houghton, Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation. MacDowell
Colony fellow, Connecticut College & NTI @ Eugene O'Neill Center grad, Wooster
Group intern. Her work is published by Broadway Play Publishing. Sara is the Artistic
Associate at Art House Productions, Jersey City and freelances for The Brooklyn Rail.
She is one of the original founders of Immigrant Families Together and a champion of
