Every year right before Thanksgiving, we see Christkindlmarket open in the Daley Plaza area of Chicago. This year is no different, with the market opening on November 17th of this year and running through December 24th. If you are looking to purchase some unique holiday gifts while having a fun-filled good time, you’ll enjoy everything the Christkindlmarket has to offer.
Christkindlmarket is a very popular yearly event that brings you a wide variety of vendors to window shop or purchase your holiday gifts from, while you can sample excellent German bratwurst and other great food while enjoying some great beer and other beverages. Decorated to remind Germans of what Christmas is like back home in Germany, you’ll love the cultural ambiance of the event, which is a combination between Oktoberfest and Christmas.
The market itself is designed to resemble a European holiday village and includes candy cane striped wooden huts and plenty of Christmas lights. Plus, you get a mug when you attend the event, but you need to come early since mug supplies are limited. Even better, admission to this event is free, although you’ll want to bring plenty of money along with you to purchase some unique gifts and buy some fantastic food.
Besides the food and shopping, live entertainment will also be present, as well as a meet and greet with Christkind, a Lantern Parade, and a prize drawing. You can attend the event through December 24. The market will be open:
