Vietnam Screening

WQED invites you to a special one-hour screening of “The Vietnam War,” a new 10-part documentary by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. This screening will take place on Wednesday, September 6th at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in Oakland (4101 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15260). Opening Remarks will be given by Rocky Bleier, Vietnam veteran and former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, at 6:30 pm, followed by a screening of the documentary. At 8 pm, Vietnam veteran, WQED personality, and the evening's emcee, Chris Moore will moderate a panel discussion. Panelists include: Thanh Armagost, active with Friends of Danang and a member of Surgicorps International; Todd DePastino, the founder and executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club and the author of the award-winning Bill Mauldin: A Life Up Front and five other books; Michael Flournoy, a Vietnam veteran who served in the Army from 1962 – 1968, was a member of the 101^st and the 82^nd Airborne Division and the First Combat Aviation Brigade, and also a retired readjustment therapist with the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System; and David Hughes Vietnam anti-war organizer 1965-1975, and President of Citizen Power, Inc., a nonprofit public policy advocacy organization. We hope you will join us for this special evening of honor and remembrance.
