Color. Light and Chinese Culture
Stroll along a path of dazzling, traditional Chinese lantern displays that light up the night. Baby pandas, a three-story Chinese palace pagoda, and a 200 foot-long dragon are among the more than 30 lantern displays glowing along a 1.5 mile path.
Daily entertainment will feature Chinese acrobats, face-changers, jugglers, hula hoop performers, contortionists and dancers in one of two evening shows, (weather permitting).
Peruse authentic Chinese crafts like sugar dragons, palm leaf weaving and Shu embroidery.
Delicious Chinese and New York State foods from various vendors will be available.
The Chinese tradition of lantern making – and lighting – began centuries ago. Lantern making is an art that passed through generations of Chinese families. The lantern displays at the Lantern Festival are made from artisans from Sichuan, China, and took months to assemble at the New York State Fairgrounds.
