Debut is a fusion of storytelling, story making, play, coaching, and community. Three professional storytellers will tell a story that they are debuting. This month, the talented storytellers are Brian "Fox" Ellis, Ingrid Bohn, and Karin Amano. The story they tell has never been told in public.
We believe that the first telling can be a wonderful and shared experience. The motto is "There is beauty in the beginning." This is the beginning of each tellers’ stories. However, it is told with the skill of a professional storyteller so it bound to be inviting
.
Then, Story Coach (Mediator) Dr. Kevin Cordi, author of Playing with Stories: Story Crafting for Writers, Teachers, and Other Imaginative Thinkers will lead these storytellers as they play with this new story. Kevin will use proven playful practices and audience members will experience new ways they could work with their own stories.
A little bit about the tellers:
Karin Amano
A native of Japan, Karin trained in Japanese traditional theatre before studying educational theatre at NYU. In New York she performed in numerous plays in off-off Broadway productions, a dance troupe, and taught acting/dance summer camps. A full-time storyteller and actor at Walt Disney World for 11 years, she now performs annually at Epcot’s Japan Pavilion. In 2019, she performed at the National Storytelling Festival’s Exchange Place. During the pandemic, she has been virtually telling stories, teaching Japanese as well as playing different characters in a business theater company that designs corporate/federal agency leadership training to teach diversity, equality and inclusion. She also draws illustrated cards for her Kamishibai storytelling. She just finished acting in an independent feature film produced in Atlanta. She is a board member of NSN’s YES and a member of Asian American Storytellers in Unity.

Ingrid Bohn
"Ingrid has loved entertaining people through story and song since she was young. She’s appeared in dozens of school and community theater productions for over 30 years. Encouraged by family and friends, Mrs. Bohn embarked on an Interactive Theater and Storytelling performance artist career. She’s researched, written and presented several interactive educational theater productions and workshops for numerous clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For over 5 years, Ingrid has volunteered her talent for The Cops ‘n’ Kids Children’s Literacy Program in Bethlehem, Pa. Her stories were a popular learning tool as a part time teacher’s aide at a local school. Her repertoire includes traditional folk/fairy tales, myths & legends, and literary stories from all over the world. Her delivery style is animated and will capture and keep your attention. Ingrid entertains all ages, and leaves them with sense of wonder.
