The Association of Indians in America, NY Chapter (AIA-NY)
presents & celebrates the
29th Annual Deepavali Festival
South Street Seaport, NYC

This event is one of the largest in the tri-state area, attracting approximately 75,000 – 100,000 people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Deepavali meaning ‘A row of lamps’ is also popularly known as Diwali, or ‘Festival of Lights’ and signifies the triumph of ‘Good over Evil’. The event will be a full day extravaganza celebrating tradition, culture and oneness with numerous food & clothing vendors, corporate booths, a children’s area, health kiosk, performances and activities for the whole family including a live grand display of fireworks illuminating the New York City skyline.
Special Attractions:
- Neel Sethi - star of Disney's The Jungle Book will be in attendance at th Children's Area!
- YouTube sensation, Vidya will be performing live alongside Shankar Tucker & Jomy George Music (presented by Sony Entertainment Television)
- Inter-Collegiate Dance Competition Naach Inferno (presented by Life OK& STAR Plus)
- Audience Participation & Open Dance Floor with Arya Dance Academy
- LIVE FIREWORKS illuminating the NYC skyline along the East River!
- Numerous local performing arts schools and academies will also be showcasing their talents on both of our stages throughout the day.
This year, Deepavali also marks the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. There will be a special tribute for Gandhiji as well along with an Essay & Drawing Competition for the youth to showcase the importance and meaning of Peace (forms available at theaiany.org/youth)
