Building off her recent album (This is My Letter to the World) - Kate Amrine premieres a new set of repertoire for solo trumpet inspired by everything from the virus itself, BLM, shootings at the US/Mexico border, feminism, and more. She will be premiering new music by Brian Morales, Jasmine Thomasian, Rossa Crean, and Jose Sfera. Kate will also play recent new works by JL Marlor, Regina Harris Baiocchi, Ruby Fulton, and David Lang.
Katie Amrine: A passionate and creative performer, Kate Amrine is a prominent trumpet player balancing a multifaceted career from developing new repertoire and curating concerts to freelancing with many different groups in the New York City. Recent performances include a CD release show of music from her second album This is My Letter to the World, a Spring 2020 tour with Spark Duo, playing the trumpet/piccolo trumpet chair in Duncan Sheik’s newest show Whisper House, and many other interesting opportunities. Kate’s album This is My Letter to the World was released on 1/24/20 on innova records, featuring new music for trumpet inspired by politics and social concepts and addresses issues including gun violence, identity and the experience of being a woman, meditation, and immigration. Several of the pieces have an accompanying video element as well. In addition to performing and composing, Kate is an Adjunct Instructor teaching private trumpet lessons at New York University. She also maintains her private teaching studio to students of all ages and levels.
