On April 26th, Bandstand will open at a Shubert theater, the specific theater has not been disclosed yet. Bandstand boasts an all-star cast including Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes who will star in the production. Starring alongside Osnes is Corey Cott, who is known for his role in the Tony Award (Best Score) winning musical, Gigi. Bandstand made its world premiere at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse in October 2015 under the title The Bandstand, where Cott and Osnes starred.
The show is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), featuring music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Tayler and Oberacker.
Bandstand is a musical that imagines a group of World War II veterans who come together in 1945 to create a swing band for a national radio competition.
"I was thrilled to have the chance to premiere 'Bandstand' out at The Paper Mill Playhouse, where I've had so many great mile markers in my career," Blankenbuehler says in a statement. "Our time there was so important for the development of this very exciting and brand new musical. We were thrilled with the reception we received, but we were even more excited to roll up our sleeves and continue working on the show."
Bandstand is 12th new musical to announce an opening date this season and more are expected.

If you’re an event organizer, you know the drill. Event goals often sound fantastic in the initial brainstorming session, but when it’s time for execution, they can easily collapse.
Let’s be honest: there was a time when great content and a catchy title were enough to pull in a crowd. But today, events have become a go-to marketing play, and now, everyone’s in the game.
