Dedication to artistic practice came naturally to my sisters and I from the women in our family - workers in fibers and textiles, cooks, bakers, keepers of the hearth and makers of more than just homes. Learning from the resources available them, they sewed and knitted to make ends meet, clothe their families, and meanwhile enriched their communities through sharing this knowledge.

Whether sewing, baking, or painting, the ability to create something by hand and heart is an empowering and enriching experience. We believe in art making as a pleasurable and practical skill that benefits communities, families and individuals. Through offering a wide variety of high-quality, accessible, visual art classes and workshops we hope to strengthen and promote independent thought and action, and demonstrate the value of art in community education.
