The mission of the Black Heritage Society is to perpetuate the dream aspiration and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by fighting for equal rights of all people.  Therefore, we invite the entire community each year to join us in the MLK Original Parade celebration and activities.  With a long history of fighting for equal justice and social accommodations for the rights of all people, Black Heritage Society subscribes to Activism, Advocacy, and Action on behalf of the underprivileged, underserved, disenfranchised, and marginalized populations.

Black Heritage Society is the first MLK Parade that was held in Houston and 1st in United State.  Rev. Martin Luther king, Sr. Commissioned Ovide Duncantell, Jr. and the BHS to continue it endeavors in the aspiration of Dr. King's dream.
