Teresa Brewer

As a volunteer with BVCC dba Harris County Empowerment Center, Teresa conducts the basic sewing workshops. Sewing is one of her biggest passion and she enjoys the moment when someone becomes interested. She's made children clothes, draperies, home decor and more. Teresa believes that providing youth with basic skills such as sewing can help them make healthy decisions later on in life and healthy decisions reduce risky behaviors. She is a Registered Nurse and now works as an Independent Insurance Agent/Benefits Consultant. She hosts seminars, workshops, and community events.    

Teresa gives credit to her mother, Hester Lewis, for cultivating her love for sewing. Hester Lewis retired as an Interior Designer and Tailor. Teresa was so motivated by her mother at the age of 16, she made her own skirts and pants to wear to school. Today, as a mother, wife, grandmother and entrepreneur, Teresa makes special occasion garments, adorns her home with draperies and shares her gifts with others. She feels that this is her ministry to the community by offering a sewing workshop to children and adults.  She loves God and currently attends St. Paul AME Church in Greenspoint.
