Early references to this piper have found their way through folklore written by epic authors like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Brothers Grimm and Robert Browning, among others. In this tale dating back to the Middle Ages, the residents of Hamlintown are fed up with their incompetent mayor, who has failed in ridding the town of their outrageous rat infestation.
Thus, the pied piper steps in to lead the rodents away with the magic of his pipe. Will he be able to save the day?
The family-friendly production was written by Company OnStage co-founder, Hank McNally. It originally premiered at St. John’s United Presbyterian Church on January 10, 1981.
