Honoring Yves “Fanfan” Joseph
Yves Joseph, a native of Petion-Ville, Haiti and better known as “Fanfan” is one of the original members of Tabou Combo. Fanfan started with the band in 1968 as a conga player in the 80’s moved to the corfront as support to Shoubou, the lead vocalist of the band. Fanfan is undoubtedly one of the most important and versatile members of Tabou Combo. Apart from being a solid background vocalist, he also sings lead in songs
like Aux Antilles, Yo …, he is also the manager of the band and the main songwriter. Fanfan has co-written New York City, the song that broke the charts in Europe in 1975 by selling one million singles. At that time Europe was grooving to the sound “A LA TI PITIT DANSE”. Fanfan has co-written MABOUYA, the Tabou Combo song interpreted by Carlos Santana in the Super Bowl of 2002.
