You'll be attending your class with your instructor LIVE, just like in your real-life class.
Join acclaimed Canadian Macro Photographer, Author and Podcaster Don Komarechka for an entirely new 4 week photography seminar that weaves science and art together to help photographers of every skill level understand the limitations of both our cameras and our own vision and then step beyond those limits.
Part 1: Understanding Vision and Beauty: Thursday, September 17, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
What is reality? A camera sees the world fundamentally differently that we do. What you remember is not what you saw, and the concept of “beauty” is a construct in our heads. We’ll unravel the differences between how a camera operates and how we perceive the world – the more differences we understand the better photographer we become.
Part 2: The Universe at Our Feet: Thursday, September 24, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Macro photography yields countless possibilities in your own backyard or kitchen table. Since macro photographers play by a different rulebook, we’ll investigate the rules that macro photographers embrace and learn to meet macro photography’s technical challenges. We’ll demonstrate some interesting setups to try at home to add to your photography toolkit.
Part 3: Capturing Invisible Light: Infrared and Ultraviolet: Thursday, October 1, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Hiding in plain sight is a fantasy world of surreal landscapes and patterns on the smallest scale that are invisible to us. Exploring this world of invisible light is an adventure that’s easier to explore than you might imagine. As a live demonstration, we will make flowers glow magically in ultraviolet light and learn how to recreate this process.
Part 4: The Life of a Photographer: Thursday, October 8, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Making a living from photography is a huge challenge as is the cost of new equipment for photography enthusiasts. What creative solutions can you apply to your own process to build an audience and make money? How far would you go and what risks would you take? With many anecdotes and examples, we’ll showcase the accomplishments and failures in the professional and amateur world of photography.
