The Provident Foundation is hosting a board member interest meeting to expand our board and the impact of our organization.

The Provident Foundation's mission is to preserve the living legacy of Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, to support the next generation in pursuing careers in medicine and ultimately improving the health of our communities.

African American medical students are more likely to express the intention to work in high-poverty, minority communities. However, only 6% of medical school graduates are African American despite accounting for 12% of the population.

- Raised over $15,000 to support programming and scholarships, doubling that of last year

- Awarded three scholarships of $3,000 to students on a pathway to a career in medicine and enrolled them into our pipeline/mentoring program

- Sponsored over a dozen high school students to participate in the University of Chicago Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP)

- Raised over $22,000 to launched a custom exhibit, titled “Provident Hospital: A Living Legacy,” at the International Museum of Surgical Science

- Secured an exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture
