WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? Has St Tim's Coffeehouse gone off their rocker? Are we switching genres?! Has the COVID pandemic warped the brains of our founders?
Relax everyone. Cool your jets! Call off the straight jacket folks. It's all good. We're bringing to our stage, Katherine Rondeau, known for her full-throttle presentation of CLASSIC FOLK MUSIC through a thoroughly modern lens. Like many artists this past year, Katherine has been participating on the virtual stage. She's been at Club Passim (Boston), The Philadelphia Folk Festival, and weekly lunchtime concerts on FacebookLive.
Accolades include, from the esteem Rich Warren, (WFMT Folkstage) "She possesses an amazing set of pipes and knows how to use them" to Wanda Fischer, (WAMC-FM Hudson River Sampler) "Katherine's amazing voice makes the rafters sing! Her smooth, rich alto, combined with outstanding songwriting captivates audience wherever she goes."
After bursting onto the Philadelphia folk scene in 2015, she was quickly recognized for her rich, bold voice and warm, engaging performance style. In 2018. she was named as the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Grassy Hill Emerging Artist. Katherine has appeared on showcases at the 2017 and 2019 Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA), 2018 Folk Alliance Regional Midwest (FARM), and 2020 Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRF). These regional folk alliances are held through the US to folk fans and venues to feature the latest and best talent.
She has the distinction of releasing "Unfortunate Point of View" in January 2019, where it remained on the Folk Alliance International (FAI) Folk DJ Charts for a FULL YEAR. Local WDCB-FM Folk DJ, Lilli Kuzma named this album her choice for 2019 Album of the Year. She was joined by nine other folk DJs coast to coast.
We hope you will join us on October 9 to watch Katherine. Trust us. She will knock your socks off!
