Every day five people die from drug overdoses in the state of Massachusetts.
Evan Greene is one of many who had his life cut short by this horrific epidemic. Like so many others, Evan’s journey began with one pill offered by a peer. That one pill led to an addiction that ultimately ended his life.
Soon after Evan's death, parents John & Stephanie Greene created the Evan Foundation & No First Time- an education and awareness program designed for children, parents, and young adults. They bravely share Evan’s Story with schools and community groups as part of a larger program that includes an educational component presented by a Massachusetts State Trooper & Drug Recognition Expert, and a personal account of a recovering addict who highlights just how easy it is to slip into a world where drugs become more important than anything else.
On March 8th, No First Time will be presenting the film If Only at Oliver Ames High School, Easton. This 38 minute film was produced by Jim and Mark Wahlburg and is intended to raise awareness, start a conversation that encourages the safe use, storage and disposal of prescription drugs- and to de-stigmatize the disease of addiction. "We are doing this in memory of our son. It is so important that people get together - parents, children, friends, and neighbors to open up a dialogue about substance abuse. We want to educate people so no one else has to endure the pain we have since losing Evan"
The film will be followed by a presentation and discussion led by the Greene's and Drug Recognition Expert, Trooper John Fanning.
Audience members are encouraged to participate.
The program is free to the public. Bring friends, family, and children ages 11+
Oliver Ames High School Auditorium, March 8th, 6:30 pm.
