I've created something fun that might interest those overwhelmed parents out there who are homeschooling their children during the quarantine.
I've started having "Class Time with Auntie," where I teach one of my nephews about a different place in the world each weekday. We do it in the mornings, and while it gives my sister-in-law a reliable break for her, it also is super fun for my nephew. I love the text from my sister-in-law after a lesson this past week, where he said, "Mom, can we go to Indonesia?" ☺️
Each day, we look at a different country in the world, and I mix it up to have a variety of places from different continents. So far, we've done: India, South Africa, Chile, Australia, and Indonesia, just to name a few.
I am opening it up to kids who want to join. For context, my nephew is 6 years old, and is able to sit in front of zoom and be engaged for the 30 minute time period. Ages 5-10 is probably the sweet spot for this.
If the idea excites you at all, jump in! 😊 I will be offering these this week from 10:30am-11am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
We all need opportunities these days...for the parents to take a break, for the kids to learn something new in the absence of physically going to school, and for me to share my love and enthusiasm of travel and learning about the world.
