Production/development history of the script.Â
This autobiographical work encapsulates a moment in time in which an individual begins the process of self awareness. The play takes place in 2011 and focuses on travel as a means of self discovery and escape. I wrote this piece as a cathartic and healing journey of my own personal experiences with depression, creativity, and abuse and how my life and decisions during this time in my life changed and shaped me for better or worse. This piece takes place on the precipice of when as a young person realizes there is a fork in the road and maturity and self reflection become a tool of recognizing that they are responsible for their own lives. This work is relevant because it shows a single person's journey through their life---the trauma and pain they experienced, the people they hurt, mistakes they made---and humanizes that journey. This piece is unique because it blends elements of travel memoir, raw pain, and poetry together into a stand alone experience of vulnerability and connection.
