Join us on Oct. 21 for a showing of Screenagers The Next Chapter: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience, a movie about helping young people thrive in our screen- and stress-filled world.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at 7. An expert panel will take your questions after the movie.

Tickets must be bought in advance through this website; there will not be ticket sales at the door.

Screenagers The Next Chapter: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience is from the director of Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital AgeFilmmaker and physician Delaney Ruston uses a personal lens and professional eye to help parents flip the script on stress, anxiety, and depression. We follow Delaney as she suddenly finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. She sets out to uncover how we understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society -- and how parents and schools can empower teens with skills to overcome mental health challenges, build emotional agility, improve communication, and promote stress resilience. The film is intended for adults and youth starting from age 10 and up.

After the movie, our expert panel will include:

  • Sister Colleen Ann Nagle, FSE, MA, LPC -- Sister is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist and director of the Franciscan Life Process Center in Lowell. During her thirty years as a therapist, Sister has been a teacher, counselor, administrator, and consultant. She has given presentations on a wide variety of topics including “Men and Anger: Evaluation, Engagement and Treatment,” and “How to Help Adult and Child Survivors of Sexual Abuse.” Sister also presented “An Integrated Approach to Play Therapy,” in both the United States and the Holy Land. Currently, Sister sees private clients, and as director of the Franciscan Life Process Center, she oversees staff members who offer weekly counseling services to students at eight Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
  • Betsy Winkle, All Belong Center for Inclusive Education -- Betsy combines her passion for education and reconciliation in her role as director of evaluation services at All Belong. Fueled by a passion for helping each child flourish and develop their God-given gifts, Betsy enjoys walking alongside parents and teachers to help them understand how each struggling child thinks and learns and creating structures within schools that support all students. She is particularly intrigued by the impact of life circumstances and mental health on a child’s educational success. Betsy received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Calvin College and her Master of Arts and specialist degrees from Lehigh University.
  • Keith Tramper, educational technology consultant at Kent ISD -- Keith Tramper is an educational technology consultant at Kent ISD. He is passionate about empowering students and educators to impact their world through the use of technology. He has led REMC's Media Literacy and Digital Citizenship team and has provided training, support, coaching and consulting for educators across Michigan. As a parent and educator, Keith believes it's important for adults and children to develop healthy relationships with technology, together.
  • Fr. Rob Mulderink, Parochial Vicar at the Basilica of St. Adalbert and St. Mary Parish and co-chaplain at West Catholic High School -- As a bona fide Millennial, Fr. Rob Mulderink both remembers the days before smart phones and also can call himself a digital native. As the youngest priest in Grand Rapids, he both uses new technology to further the mission of the Church and also fights for regular periods of time without any notifications.

The Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids is grateful for event support from Celebration Cinema.
