Tere Bin

I haven't reviewed a Hindi/Desi remix CD in ages! You've probably noticed that. Part of the reason is obvious - there were no good remix CDs to review these last few months and possibly, years. I came across this DJ Quad CD called "Tere Bin" and although the album cover leaves a lot to be desired from a design point of view, the contents of the CD break eardrums!

Now, going back to what I just said... I have not heard a great Hindi Remix CD in ages. That is, until this one. DJ Quad, who I have never heard of prior to this, seems to have a gift for choosing the proper sounds to remix together. He doesn't just throw together a bunch of crap and call it a remix, something the rest of these so called popular DJs have become all too comfortable doing.

From the start, "Maula Mere Maula" by Anwar, brings a breath of fresh air and leaves you stunned by its positive energy and mood-setting beat. The Hindi lyrics were not spoiled by English singing or annoying rapping over them, the remix was done tastefully by just enhancing it with some amazing beats.

Same thing happens for the rest of the tracks, like "Salaam-e-Ishq," and a few others. Unfortunately, DJ Quad didn't maintain this for all his tracks, namely "Glassi" and a couple of other ones where you have a little bit of hip hop lyrics over it. He should've kept the lyrics intact and just added the phat beats he threw down.

Now, the phattest track on this CD is ofcourse "Tere Bin" by Atif Aslam. The entire song is kept intact and the beats added to it are just beautiful, down right masterful. I have it on repeat right now, as a matter of fact. This is one of the best remixes I've heard in ages.

This CD was produced and delivered in an authentic Desi remix style. There is no (minimal) English singing to ruin the lyrics, only the addition of some phat beats to enhance the existing lyrics and music. Something I have always admired and appreciated in my remix CDs and this one did not disappoint.

4 out of 5 bindis - Its gooooooood!
